TO: Residents and Property Owners of South Padre Island

The town of South Padre Island has contracted with the company Wallace Roberts and Todd (WRT) to develop a long-range city plan. This effort will take up to a year and will require the involvement of as many of our residents and property owners as possible. South Padre Island is growing rapidly, and it is essential that our city planners have your suggestions and opinions as to how you want this growth to occur.

Your input and participation is vital to insure your tax dollars are spent on improvements you deem necessary. Without your participation, the inevitable growth of South Padre Island may
deviate from the community’s desires. This will be your opportunity to help shape the future of the island.

There will be five (5) town forums scheduled for December 2nd, 3rd, and 4th for residents/property owners of South Padre Island. The times for these meetings are listed below. Representatives of WRT will give an overview of the project and then small groups (usually 8-10 people) will be formed. Each group will discuss our present day ”strengths” and “weaknesses” as well as the future “opportunities” and “vulnerabilities” as they relate to the growth of South Padre Island. The groups will be structured to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to contribute on each subject if they choose to do so. But, like other things on the island, they will be casual and fun.
The meetings are expected to last for about two hours and refreshments will be available.

The dates and times of the forums are:

Monday, December 2: 12:00 - 2:00pm and 6:00 - 8:00pm
Tuesday, December 3: 2:00 - 4:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm
Wednesday, December 4: 9:00 - 11:00am

All forums will be held at the SPI Convention Centre

You may attend any of the forums - no notification is necessary. If you will not be on the island at this time or unable to attend for any reason, you may also ask someone to represent your interests. But, again, it is emphasized that your participation is quite important.
