Dear C. Weed,

Somebody needs to "Splain to Shane" that it is "P&Z" not "Z&P" and that they are a body to review and recommend to the BOA for final say. P&Z committee members are appointed by one Alderman unlike being elected by the majority of the voters and have to put their personal views aside and be responsible to all- including the visitors. Also a tie is a tie rather it be by the place system or at large. Example: the last alderman race had 3 people running for 2 slots. Also before any vocal resident wants to be self serving and restrict business they had better get aquatinted with the budget and the revenue generated by property tax verses sales tax, it takes both to live this "grand style". Think twice before you want to restrict or limit businesses income and end up carrying the load with your property taxes. The fact is there is a solution to everything--go slowly, fairly and involve all parties to find a win-win solution for everyone, do not knee jerk, that gets us in trouble every time. "New comers" have always come here and told us how we are doing it wrong but never stay long enough to make a difference, shall I name names? There is no right or wrong--no new or old. We are just here in this time and space to learn and get it right for the next time around. I remember the last time around when the Town first started and we did not have the revenues to operate the town let alone keep our businesses open the year round. We made mistakes in the process of getting to today but one thing I did learn from our mistakes was not to rush into solving a problem and end up creating a worse problem. A person will have their own views but a bigger person will see the other persons views and respect them. Ain't we having fun!
